Jang Joon-Hyuk is a surgeon. He specializes in cancer of the liver,pancreas. Choi Do-Young is a physician.They've been friends since they were university students. Two work for the same university hospital and are assistant professors.
Do-Young asks Joon-Hyuk to operate on a pancreatic cancer patient. Joon-Hyuk hears the vice director of the hospital,Do-Young's superior, made a wrong diagnosis of the patient. So, he refuses to operate at first. But pancreatic cancer is very rare. Joon-Hyuk wants to operate. Joon-Hyuk decides he operates on the day Professor Lee,Joon-Hyuk's superior,is absent because of a seminar. Joon-Hyuk operates without letting anyone watch.
In the operation, the vice director comes to the operating room.

Professor Lee dislikes Joon-Hyuk. He doesn't consider Joon-Hyuk as his successor.

Professor Lee's daughter comes to the hospital. Joon-Hyuk operates on her and succeeds. Joon-Hyuk doesn't have to go to another hospital.
Joon-Hyuk sends the vice director an expensive picture. The vice director is very upset. He tries to make Joon-Hyuk go to a branch hospital.
Professor Lee decides his successor is Noh Min-Guk.

When the vote is about to start,Professor Lee abstains from voting. The result of the vote is that Joon-Hyuk is 11,Min-Guk is 12, Moon is 7.
No one gets more half votes, so the final vote will be done on another day.
Joon-Hyuk goes to meet Min-Guk in a hotel room. He throws himself on the floor and asks Min-Guk to give up the Professor.

A patient comes to Choi Do-Young.
Joon-Hyuk asks his father not to go to Dr.Oh because of the final vote. But he goes to Dr.Oh with money. Dr.Oh is very angry.
Joon-Hyk goes to his mother on the previous day of the final vote.
The result of the final vote is that Jang Joon-Hyuk is 16, Noh Min-Guk is 14. Joon-Hyuk wins.

Do-Young finds the patient has an early cancer. Do-Young asks Joon-Hyuk to operate on the patient. Don-Il is in charge of the patient. The patient has X-rayed. The X-ray photograph of his lung has a small shadow.
Joon-Hyuk considers it an anamness of tuberculosis. Dong-Il and Do-Young think it may be an metastasis of cancer.
World Congress will be held in Jeju. The wife of the head of Congress has a serious illness. Joon-Hyuk wants to operate on her. His heart is filled with her operation. So he operates on Do-Young's patient without enough examination.
After the operation, some bad symptoms appear. But Joon-Hyuk doesn't go to the patient. He only instructs Dong-Il on the treatment.

The patient Joon-Hyuk operated is sent to ICU. He's in a critical condition.
Do-Young goes to Jeju to meet Joon-Hyuk. Joon-Hyuk operates on her. During the interval of the operation, Do-Young meets Joon-Hyuk.
The patient Joon-Hyuk operated dies on February 8.
Joon-Hyuk 's operation in Jeju is successful.Joon-Hyuk hears from Do-Young that the patient he operated died.

Joon-Hyuk goes to the vice director's house with his father.
The dead body of the patient is dissected by Dr.Oh.

The lawyer of the plaintiff asks Do-Young to help them. Do-Young introduces Dr.Lee.
The vice director urges Do-Young to go to the United States for study. Do-Young says to the lawyer of the plaintiff,"I can't be a witness."
The trial starts.
The wife of the dead patient enters the hospital where Joon-Hyuk and D-Young work. She tries to drop the lawsuit at the lawyer's office. Just then, Do-Young comes there.

It's the second trial. Dr.Oh testifies that he dissected the dead body.

Joon-Hyuk collapses in the operating room after he operates.
He has a cancer.But Doctors in the hospital doesn't tell Joon-Hyuk the truth. Joon-Hyuk goes to Do-Young in order to have him examined.

Joon-Hyuk goes to the operating room and recalls his operations.
Joon-Hyuk writes a will.
He dies when Do-Young,his father,and so on see him.
His body is dessected by Dr.Oh in accordance with his will.
